When you use a tool on AspectToolkit, your file is read directly from your hard drive into your computer's memory. It is processed locally on your device, and the final result is saved directly back to your device. We do not have a server that receives, processes, or stores your files.

How Local Processing Works

Historically, online image tools required you to upload a file to a remote server. The server would process the image, and you would download the result. This posed massive privacy risks, especially for creators working with unreleased brand assets, sensitive client photos, or personal documents.

AspectToolkit utilizes the HTML5 Canvas API and modern browser capabilities. This means your web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) acts as the software application. We simply provide the JavaScript instructions to your browser on how to crop, resize, or convert the image locally.

Data We Collect (And What We Don't)

What We DON'T Collect

We do not collect or store your images.
We do not extract metadata (EXIF) from your photos.
We do not require user accounts or store passwords.
We do not log the contents of your clipboard.

What We DO Collect

Standard web analytics (pageviews, browser type, referral source) to understand which tools are popular.
Error logs (if a tool crashes) to help us fix bugs. These logs do not contain user files.

Cookies and Local Storage

Like almost all websites, AspectToolkit uses "cookies" and browser "Local Storage."

We use Local Storage strictly to improve your user experience. For example, if you prefer dark mode, we save that preference locally on your device. We may also remember your most recently used tools to populate the "Recent Tools" section on the homepage.
