Quick Answer

Upload a PNG image, adjust the JPEG quality level, and download a smaller JPG file. Ideal for reducing file sizes of screenshots and graphics for web publishing.

How It Works

The converter draws your transparent or heavy PNG onto a hidden HTML5 Canvas. We then use the browser's built-in encoding methods (canvas.toDataURL) to re-encode the pixel data as a compressed JPEG file, allowing you to set the precise quality level.

Step-by-Step Guide

Process your images in seconds with these simple instructions.

1

Select PNG

Upload the PNG file you wish to convert.

2

Set Quality

Adjust the JPEG compression quality (80-90% is usually best).

3

Convert & Save

Download the much smaller JPG file instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the transparent background of my PNG?

JPG doesn't support alpha channels, so transparent areas are filled with a solid color (white by default). You can change this fill color before converting — useful if you're placing the image on a colored website background.

Will I lose quality converting PNG to JPG?

PNG is lossless, but JPG uses lossy compression. You will lose some image data during conversion, particularly in gradients and fine textures. At 90% JPG quality, the difference is barely visible for photographs but may be noticeable for graphics with text or sharp edges.

How much smaller will the file be?

A PNG photograph can be 5–10× larger than an equivalent JPG. A 10MB PNG photo typically converts to a 500KB–1.5MB JPG at standard quality. For graphics with large areas of solid color, the savings are less dramatic but still significant.

Should I keep my original PNG after converting?

Always keep your original PNG. JPG is a delivery format, not an archive format. If you ever need to edit the image again, the PNG preserves full quality and transparency that the JPG discards.

Can I convert multiple PNGs at once?

The tool processes one image at a time. For batch converting large collections, image processing software like ImageMagick or dedicated batch converters may be more efficient for volume work.

What quality setting should I use?

For web use, 85–90% quality strikes the best balance between visual fidelity and file size. For photography portfolios where quality matters most, use 95%. For thumbnails or preview images, 70–80% is perfectly adequate.
